Cover to Cover Infocom 1987 Catalog pp 5 6
Continuing our leisurely stroll through the pages of premier interactive fiction publisher Infocoms 1987 product catalog, we come upon a spinoff from a popular trilogy, and an experimental work that isnt as well-remembered as it probably ought to be.
Brian Moriarty created Infocoms Wishbringer and Lucasarts Loom, as well as some lesser-known type-in text adventures for magazines early in his career, but I had forgotten that he created Beyond Zork. I havent played it, but the ad copy here indicates it was an attempt to incorporate role-playing gameplay into the Infocom style (there were some random combat elements in the original ZORK trilogy, but this one aims more explicitly for stat-building, combat and dungeon exploration.) This may have been the first Infocom title to incorporate graphics of any kind, with an onscreen map.
On page 6 we find the experimental Nord and Bert Couldnt Make Head or Tail of It, a series of short interactive puzzles -- ostensibly stories, but focused primarily on wordplay and puns. I havent played this one either, but its on my list and sounds like its intended to be a quick, friendly, and funny, experience for word game enthusiasts. Unlike the more substantial Infocom titles, this one didnt come with any physical "feelies" as supplementary materials, but cartoonist Kevin Pope was engaged to provide a booklet of cartoons for added entertainment.

Update HTC One M7 M8 to Android 5 0 1 Lollipop OTA Update
HTC One (M7 & M8) to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop
In previous month we have seen a lot of updates related with the Android 5.0 Lollipop. We have seen AOSP ROMs, OmniROM 5.0, AndroidNow HD and the top in the market right now, the CyanogenMod 12. Some of the factory images were leaked for some devices while some even received the Official Firmware. Although most devices were updated via the Custom ROMs, but the main point is that all of them were either the official Android 5.0 Lollipop or 5.0 Lollipop based ROM. What we have seen last night is quite something, that should have been seen on Nexus 6 first and then Nexus 9, than for any other device, but it was seen on HTC One M7 and M8 Google Play Edition.
Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OTA Update was released for GPe edition of HTC One M7 and M8yesterday, yes the Android 5.0.1, not the Android 5.0 Lollipop. Most probably this small change will remove some bugs and enhanced performance. The update is of 511mb and doesn’t feature the HTC Sense like all of the previous Firmwares. If you want to update your HTC One M8 to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, then you’ll need your device to run the Stock ROM and Stock Recovery first, then and only then you’ll be able to flash this file. In this article, we will show you How to Update HTC One M8 to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OTA, without further ado, let’s continue.
Early Preparations:
1. This is only for HTC One (M7, M8)!
This custom ROM is only for the device mentioned above. Make sure that your model number matches the one listed above. To do so, go to Settings > About Device on your device and see your model number. Flashing this ROM on any other device will result in bricking it so make sure that you meet this requirement first of all.
2. Battery should be charged at least over 60%
Make sure that your battery is charged enough to complete the flashing process. In case your battery is low and your device goes dead during the flashing process, you may end up soft bricking your device as it won’t complete the flashing process.
3. Backup everything!
Just to be on the safe side, you may consider backing up each and everything from your Android device. This is highly recommended so that in case anything goes wrong, you still have the access to all of your data and you can restore it immediately. You may backup everything as listed below.
- Backup SMS Messages
- Backup Call Logs
- Backup Contacts
- Backup Media – Copy your files manually to your PC or Laptop.
- Titanium Backup – If already rooted, use Titanium Backup to backup all of your apps, system data and other important content.
- Backup Nandroid - If CWM or TWRP installed previously, otherwise skip this step and perform this at the end of flashing.
4. Disclaimer
The methods involved in flashing custom recoveries, roms and rooting your phone are highly custom and may result in bricking your device, and has nothing to do with Google or the device manufacturer that is HTC in our case. Also rooting your device will void its warranty and you will be no longer eligible for any kind of free device services by the manufacturers/warranty providers. How to Install Android 5.0.1 Lollipop:
- First of all make sure that your device is running Stock Recovery.
- Configure Fastboot on your device, How? How to Install Android Adb & Fastboot Drivers on Your Windows PC [Guide].
- Now Connect your device with PC.
- Copy the above downloaded file to the root of your Sdcard.
- Open Command prompt in Fastboot folder and type: adb reboot recovery
- Once in Recovery, Choose Apply Update from Internal Storage
- Navigate to “0” and choose the Zip file.
- Confirm the Installation and Wait for the updater to do its job.
- Once done, reboot your device.
- After a Successful Reboot, Go to Settings > About to verify the Android version.

Sony PlayStation 5 release date and price
We waited an agonising seven years for Sony to upgrade its PS3 to the PS4, but will we have to wait as long for the PS5? Here we reveal all there is to know about the Sony PlayStation 5 UK release date and specs. Also see: PS4 vs Xbox One.
Very little is known about the PlayStation 5, which isnt surprising given that its launch is likely years rather than months away, but in this article well discuss the rumours and speculation surrounding the PS5 and see what details we can glean.
Sony PlayStation 5: Will there be a PS5?
With the upcoming release of PlayStation Now - expected to hit the US this summer and the UK in 2015 - many have speculated that physical consoles are a thing of the past. PlayStation Now is a cloud-based gaming service that lets you play PS3 games on the PS4, PS Vita and Bravia TVs, while support for non-Sony and -PlayStation devices will come later. Its a bit like Netflix, but for games rather than films.
Yet we still think there will be a PS5. Not only does the PS4 bring in a huge amount of profit, Sony boss Shuhei Yoshida has been quoted as saying the future of the PlayStation is up to developers.
"If they still feel that we need more machine power - we want to realise this and that and that, but we cannot do it with the PS4 - theres a good reason to have the PS5 so developers can create their vision," said Yoshida.
The PS4 is immensely powerful but, unlike the thousands of gaming PCs with which it competes, Sonys console doesnt benefit from the possibility of regular processor and graphics updates. Plus, with PlayStation Now Sony will be able to keep customers happy by allowing them to continue using their PS4 games on a new PS5.
Sony PlayStation 5: Potential PS5 UK release date
Its been 20 years since the first PlayStation was released, and there were seven years between the launches of the PS3 and PS4. That was the longest stretch, with the PS2 appearing five years three months after the PS1, and the PS3 six years eight months after the PS2. Its fairly safe to say Sony doesnt follow a strict pattern with its console releases.
Games consoles are naturally long-lifecycle products, with customers investing considerable expense in both the platform and its proprietary titles. However, Sony is reportedly working on shorter timeframes between its PlayStation launches - at least thats the impression given by AMD, which manufactured the hardware powering the PS4.
CFO Devinder Kumar, speaking at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Technology Conference, said AMD had made a real impact with the release of the PS4 in 2013. Around 2016, he added, AMD would again be a very different company. Although he may not have been referring specifically to a new console release from Sony, such devices are extremely profitable to AMD and it is always thinking about whats coming next.
"Three years before you introduce a product a decision is made to use a particular company. In this case it was AMD. Then you co-develop the product with funding dollars, mostly coming from our customers. When you introduce the product there are no R&D, sales and marketing expenses - however many dollars you generate fall to the bottom line, and that’s what excites us," said Kumar.
Earlier this year Sonys software product development head Scott Rhode told MTV: "Very soon well start thinking about what well do next. Thats the culture at Sony. We always have to do something thats bigger and better than whats already been done."
Sony UK boss Fergal Gara added that "Its probably a sign of the times and how much has changed in seven years, but I think the willingness and the appetite to pick up new technology fast has probably changed quite a bit." For the next few years, though, he said Sony will be putting its weight behind the PS4.
So, rather than waiting another seven years for the PS5, which would peg its launch in 2020, the fast-paced development of technology could mean the PS5 rears its head much sooner - but could it really be as soon as 2016? We suspect that even if Sony is able to shorten the time between its PlayStation releases, well still be waiting until at least 2018 before the PS5 becomes a realistic option.
Of course, well update this article as soon as more concrete details on the PS5 release date are available.
Sony PlayStation 5: PS5 design
Concept images of the PS5 have already popped up on the web, including those used to illustrate this article (courtesy of David Hansson). We suspect it will retain the black box, blue light theme, but will be sleeker and more stylish than before. And if PlayStation Now is able to let it do away with discs, it could even be more compact too.
Sony PlayStation 5: PS5 specs
As you might expect, very little is known about the PS5s hardware. Going by AMDs enthusiasm over the PS4, we can only assume it will remain onboard the Sony ship for the PS5.
Something else that might become a thing with the PS5 is virtual reality. Project Morpheus, a prototype virtual-reality system that works with PS4, suggests Sony is looking in this direction for future consoles. Such technology should allow for truly immersive gameplay, allowing you to really feel as though you are in the game.
And PlayStation TV - expected to launch 14 November - may also be important to the PS5s development. Could we see this wireless streaming functionality built into the PS5?
Its possible that PlayStation Now will allow Sony to remove the optical drive, although some sort of provision for offline gaming - perhaps a flash storage drive - would be necessary. Not everyone in the UK has constant - if any - access to super-fast broadband.

Without knowing exactly whats on offer, its impossible to accurately predict how much the PS5 will cost. With the PS2 costing £300, the PS3 £425 and the PS4 £349, we can only assume Sony will stick around the £400 mark. After all, it has other consoles and gaming PCs with which to compete.
