OnePlus 2 Launched Coming To India At Priced Rs 23k And Rs 25k
Finally, the much awaited successor to the immensely popular value-for-money phone The OnePlus One, was launched as OnePlus 2. The OnePlus 2 is also a value-for-money phone but costs just marginally more than the original OnePlus One. The 16GB version of OnePlus 2 will cost Rs. 22,999 and 64GB version will come for Rs. 23,999 in India. But for OnePlus its not just about the price tag. We expect quality phones from OnePlus at an affordable price. OnePlus 2 might look a tad expensive to you but it is worth every penny of its asking price.
From a specs perspective, the OnePlus 2 features a 5.5-inch, 1080p screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, and either 16GB of storage with 3GB of RAM or 64GB of storage with 4GB of RAM. The back-facing camera has a 13-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization, while the front camera lets you shoot selfies at 5 megapixels. That back camera also includes a two-tone flash and a laser focusing system. While most of these specs are pretty standard fare for a high-end smartphone, the price remains anything but: the 16GB model will retail for $329, while the 64GB version will go for $389. Thats more than last years model, but after spending some time with the phone, I feel like the price increase is justified for what you get.
Design-wise, the metal-design makes it look plush and premium. The company has also taken out the logo from the front. It sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display. As promised, the smartphone also comes with a fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C port. The fingerprint scanner is faster than the iPhone TouchID and lets you save up to five fingerprints, says OnePlus.
It also sports a reversible, USB Type-C connector. The highlight of the USB Type-C cable is that its reversible so you dont need to check which side of the connector is up while inserting it. The Type-C port on the OnePlus 2 could allow file transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps and allows the smartphone to charge faster.
On the connectivity front, OnePlus 2 supports 4G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and A-GPS. Other than the companys classic Sandstone Black back cover, One Plus 2 will also have option of StyleSwap covers namely, Bamboo, Black Apricot, Rosewood and Kevlar.
It runs OxygenOS, and says it isnt your pure Android. It comes with some significant changes. It allows you drastically change the look and feel of the device with a single switch. The colour mode will let you select custom accents colours, or even use dark mode. App Permissions lets users control what apps can access, such as your location, identity, or contacts. The OnePlus 2 has a 3300mAh battery.
Meanwhile Android Central has got an exclusive hands-on with the device and has also revealed some high-end images of the upcoming device.
The company says it will be opening popup stores at 9 cities across the world - namely, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Jakarta, Milan, Berlin, Paris, London, New York, and San Francisco - on Friday. Visitors will get to try out the OnePlus 2, ask questions, and could even win an invite. The first 50 visitors will get a gift bag. Details about the venue addresses can be found on the OnePlus forum.
